Common reasons for consultation
- Discharge, odour, itching, stinging or irritation.
- Pain when urinating or during sex.
- Sores, blisters, warts or genital lesions.
- Consultation after a risk exposure or because a partner has an STI.
Possible tests
Depending on the suspected cause, assessment may include examination, vaginal or cervical swab, culture, molecular testing, urine or blood tests.
Targeted treatment
Not every discharge is thrush and not every symptom needs antibiotics. Treatment depends on the identified or most likely cause.
